JAMES TURRELL – PACE LONDON
Scope:
James Turrell’s recent Constellation works, the focal point of this exhibition, are the culmination of Turrell’s lifelong pursuit. Presented in site-specific chambers formed by freestanding dry lined partitions, the works feature elliptical and circular shapes in drylining apertures with a frosted glass surface animated by an array of technically advanced LED lights, which are mounted to a wall and generated by computer programming.
Constructing freestanding walls comes with its own challenges through having enough strength, support, weight and width to be able to withstand any pieces of art which may be suspended. Luckily at the PACE London gallery we are able to use the existing structural columns to secure the freestanding partitions around.
